Fall Development UPDATE!

POSTED - August 11th, 2010

Attention all Mites, Squirt, and Pee Wees:

Have you signed up for Fall Development yet? If not, there is still time! Fall league starts on September 11th! That is less than one month! Several of our divisions filled up fast and we have several players on the wait list. In fact, we have almost enough players on the wait list for pee wees and squirts to have two sessions! So, if you thought about signing up for fall but didn’t and thought it was too late…here’s your chance to sign up NOW! Grab a friend and have them sign up too! This is a great opportunity for novice hockey players to learn and have some fun...spread the word!

Mites: There is room for only 3 more players!
Squirts: We need 9 more players!
Pee Wees: We need 8 more players!

Register Now! to get on the wait list and then once we have a few more players, we’ll add some more ice and play some hockey!

If you have any questions about the Fall Development Program, please contact Lester Sparks, House Director at lestersparks33@yahoo.com
If you have questions about online registration, please contact Donna Goddard at donnaly66@gmail.com.

PJH General Meeting - Big News!!

POSTED - June 17th, 2010

Hello everyone! We had a good turnout at the PJH General meeting on Monday, June 14th at the Oregon Sports Offices. We reviewed details of the 2010-11 Tier/Rep program, discussed the new House season split into the Fall Development Program (FDP) and the Winter House League, and talked about the future of youth hockey in the Portland area. Several members had excellent questions regarding program details and organizational philosophy - it was heartening to see so many interested parents in the room. Registration for the 2010-11 season is NOW OPEN, so please don't delay in getting signed up for what is sure to be another great year of Portland Jr. Hawks hockey!

The biggest news of the night was presented by Portland Winterhawks' President Doug Piper, who announced that the Winterhawks are moving forward with the purchase of Valley Ice Arena and that they hope to close the deal by early July. PJH has worked closely with the Winterhawks as they have considered this move, and we are VERY excited by what this change holds in store for our organization as we partner with the Winterhawks to grow the sport of ice hockey. We plan to assist the Winterhawks in the rink transition, and will announce plans for a "work party weekend" at Valley to help make it shine brighter than ever. PJH parent Jill Boeschenstein has graciously agreed to coordinate this volunteer effort, and you will hear more details as the timeline is finalized. I also want to extend many thanks to John McBride for everything he has done for hockey in the Portland area during his tenure at Valley, and we wish him the best. We will also continue to work with Sherwood Ice Arena and Mt. View Ice Arena to give you the best youth hockey program we possibly can.

Don't forget to sign up for the many excellent camps in the Portland area this summer in addition to submitting your PJH registration. Best wishes to all for a great summer - hopefully it will STOP RAINING sometime in the near future.

Regards,

Tom O'Connor, President
Portland Jr. Hawks

GDI HOCKEY – GOALIE CAMP

Being a world-class goaltender takes work. Hard work. Early in the morning. Late at night. Weekends, holidays and a few birthdays, too.

Through GDI training, our expert instruction doesn't teach goaltenders how to play. Playing doesn't make a world-class goaltender. Work does.

If you've got the potential to be great - with blood, sweat and tears to spare - there's only one organization for you. GDI. It's no day at the beach. We promise.
