Winter Hawks to Host Hockey Rush Flea Market September 16

The Portland Winter Hawks will bring together great food, a wide variety of super vendors in a Flea Market full of bargains, a chance to purchase Hawks memorabilia, meet and skate with the 2007-08 Winter Hawks and more fun in a day-long event at Sherwood Ice Arena on Sunday, September 16. It's the Hockey Rush Flea Market. Booth space will be sold in the open area adjacent to Sherwood Ice Arena for $10 per 15-foot by 15-foot space for anyone to market their own crafts or sell any items they wish. Food booth space will be available to rent for food vendors.

Anyone wishing to rent booth space, or sign up to be a food vendor, can contact Tracy Breon in the Winter Hawks office at 503-238-6366 (extension 10) or via e-mail at tracyb@winterhawks.com. Cash, checks, or credit cards will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the Portland Winter Hawks Player Development Fund. Admission to the public is free and everyone is invited.

All local hockey players are encouraged to buy and sell used hockey equipment and take advantage of a special Skills Competition for all ages: mites, squirts, peewee, bantam, midget and adult sponsored by Easton. There will also be a special stick time where all players will be invited to try out the latest sticks, skates and other hockey equipment from Easton. This will also be a chance for everyone to meet the entire 2007-08 Winter Hawks' team for autographs and a skate party.

Here is a schedule of some of the events to be held.

Flea Market

• 15-foot by 15-foot spaces available for $10. Set up begins at 7:00 a.m. with the Flea Market open to the public at 9:00 a.m. Sherwood Ice Arena, which is just off Highway 99, will be promoting the Flea Market on its outside signage and additional signs will be placed on the highway to alert passing motorists to the Flea Market. All vendors of all merchandise welcome to display and sell their wares and stay as long as they like.
• Food vendors are welcome to apply for food booth space, also at a $10 fee, on a first-come first-serve basis. Some menu exclusivity will be offered to all food vendors, who are expected to have all necessary food service permits.
• All hockey players are encouraged to bring their used hockey equipment for re-sale on a consignment basis. Table space will be provided on a complimentary basis by the Portland Junior Hawks for players to buy and sell their gear.
• A special table of Winter Hawks' memorabilia will be available for purchase.
• Special Note to all vendors - there is no electrical power available.

Easton Skills Competition for Hockey Players of All Ages:

• All players invited to come to the rink and compete in a series of Skills Challenge Events free, sponsored by Easton.
• Time of the Skills Competition: 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
• Prizes for all age levels, provided by Easton. Mites, Squirts, Bantams, Midgets and Adults are all invited to compete.

Sherwood Ice Arena Stick Time and Demo Day

• Specially priced Stick Time ice session from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. for all hockey players who participate in the Easton Demo Day for just $5 per player.
• Several Portland Winter Hawks players will be on the ice assisting players.
• Shoot on the new Sherwood Ice Arena, 3-D, Rich O'Shay Shooter Tutor.
• Special prices on all Easton products, and other special sale items, available this day only at Northwest Skate Authority in the Sherwood Ice Arena complex.
• All players who participate can register to win several sweepstakes prizes from Easton.

Sherwood Ice Arena, Portland Winter Hawks Open Skate and Autograph Session

• Specially priced open, public skating session from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. open to everyone for just $6 per person, including free rental skates, if needed.
• Skate with the 2007-08 Portland Winter Hawks. Each player will spend some time on the ice with all skaters and each player will also be available off the ice to sign autographs. Meet the new team in person!!!
