- (2) Ice times per week
- 1st ice time - Emphasis on skating and skill development
- 2nd Ice time - Emphasis on fun and small area games
The goal for the Mini Mite Program is to develop skating, and have fun learning the game of hockey. This is strictly a developmental program. No travel will be allowed at the Mini Mite level.
Mites (2003 and 2004 Birth year):
Depending on the numbers, players will be divided into 2 - 4 teams each week. Teams will rotate on a weekly basis. Coaches will determine the player rotation and will notify the parents/kids.
- (3) Ice times per week
- 1st ice time - Emphasis on skating (All Mite Clinic)
- 2nd Ice time - Emphasis on puck handling, shooting and small area games
(2) teams will share a full sheet of ice for practice - 3rd ice time - Cross ice games
Transition to full ice games towards the end of the season
Goalies: Any kid interested in playing goalie should let their coach now. We anticipate having kids rotate in and out of the goalie position throughout the season. Goalie gear will be provided. The goal for the Mite program is to develop skating, puck handling and small area game skills and progress from cross ice games to full ice after the first of the New Year. There will be a three tier system during games and practices to ensure that players of similar skill are playing with and against one another. Coaches will match players to best fit their skill level and ensure every kid is being pushed to their potential. This will be done without involving parents or changing schedules. All games are played for fun. No records of goals or wins are kept.
No travel to in season tournaments will be allowed at the Mite level. Post season tournaments will be allowed upon PJH Executive Board committee approval.
